About Me

Doris Bell grew up in rural Georgia on a dairy farm. For as long as she can remember,
she always loved art. She won her first art award in the first grade when
her crayon drawing of a house with an apple tree, sky, clouds, grass and flowers was chosen.
As a child most of Bell's spare time was very typical except that she always liked to
make or create things and made pencil and chalk sketches of her friends.

After getting married she started taking art classes from local artists and attended
the Montgomery School of Fine Arts at Huntingdon College in Montgomery,
Alabama.  Bell taught art in a private school for several years and then decided
to teach art at her home studio.  In 1987, she opened an art gallery and
studio in Wetumpka, Alabama.  She sold her business in 2004 and continues to paint at
her home studio.

Bell enjoys most all art media (oils, watercolors, pastels, charcoal, graphite).
Her favorites are oils and pastels.   She has won many awards and has paintings in
collections throughout the United States and Europe.  Bell is a charter and
current member of the Elmore County Art Guild and is also a member
of the Prattauga Art Guild.
